Maslina Resort - at first it seemed impossible, but in the end we made it happen
Maslina was one of the more challenging projects due to the number and variety of items that needed to be conceptualized, designed, and produced.
Opened in 2020, Maslina is a 5-star resort on the island of Hvar and one of the most distinctive tourism projects in Croatia.
The resort consists of a 50-room hotel and three private villas, located in Maslinica Bay near Stari Grad. Surrounded by the sea, olive groves, vineyards, and pine forests, the project was brought to life by French investors—father and daughter Daniel and Maud Truchi—who fell in love with Croatia and the island of Hvar.
After the initial presentation, sketches, and prototypes, we quickly defined the aesthetic direction. I found inspiration in minimalist forms and organic shapes, complemented by a neutral, earthy, and warm color palette—all in harmony with Maslina’s visual identity. There is no excess at Maslina. Everything is moderate, balanced, and refined, blending Mediterranean aesthetics with subtle French influences.
In addition to select ceramic pieces for the hotel rooms—such as coffee cups and some bathroom accessories—the majority of the collection was created for the Pharomatiq Spa, the conceptual heart of the resort.
This included a variety of ceramic items, from large and small bowls for manicures and massages to bottles for aromatherapy oils.
This part of the project was the most challenging for me, as the collection included many different ceramic pieces, each of which needed to meet both functional and aesthetic standards.
The entire project lasted nearly 10 months, a remarkably short timeframe for such a large undertaking—especially given the impact of COVID-19. At first, it seemed impossible, but in the end, we made it happen.
